Development & AI

Turn an AI-generated prototype into a dependable application

AI assistance can make an idea tangible quickly. Production introduces persistent data, permissions, failures, backups and support. Keep the useful product discoveries, then examine and structure the implementation.

Record what has actually been validated

Separate tested journeys from screens shown only in demonstrations. A confirmation may appear without the intended operation being implemented.

Retain useful terminology and workflow decisions, then write complete scenarios. A receiving team should not have to infer business rules from screenshots or prompt history.

Inventory code and external services

Gather sources, dependencies, accounts and deployment settings. Identify live information and credentials that need protecting.

Try a clean installation. If it works only on one machine, clarify the environment first. Check what platform terms allow you to export, host or replace.

Stabilise business rules and data

Check server-side permissions, accepted fields and status changes. A convincing interface does not establish data protection. Plan schema changes and migrations.

Custom redevelopment can retain some components and replace others. Optimise for a coherent, maintainable foundation rather than the largest amount of preserved code.

Test completed work and exceptions

Run priority tasks with different accounts, missing information and interruptions. Inspect actual effects in email, files and connected services.

Add meaningful tests for risky rules and user acceptance scenarios. Generated changes still require verification of the affected journey.

Release progressively with operating ownership

Prepare hosting, credentials, backups and rollback. Launch to an identified group with a reporting channel and clear responsibilities.

AI can remain a development tool, but subsequent changes need the same understanding, checks and release process as any maintained application.

Your checklist

  • List genuinely tested capabilities.
  • Gather sources, accounts and dependencies.
  • Verify server controls.
  • Test complete journeys and failures.
  • Plan a supported pilot release.

Frequently asked questions

Must all generated code be discarded?

No. Examine structure, dependencies and required capabilities. An audit can identify what to retain, correct or rebuild.

Can screenshots establish a takeover budget?

They explain the visible product, but estimation needs source code, data and service inspection. Similar screens can hide very different work.
